Local Climate Action on Cape Cod

About Us

Be Part of Solving the Climate Crisis

Cape Climate Action is building a volunteer membership organization of people across Cape Cod who want to be part of solving the climate crisis. Our dual priorities are to reduce the toxic carbon pollution from burning oil and gas that are overheating our world, and to make our communities more resilient in the face of rising seas and intensifying storms. We help residents save energy and money by training Energy Navigators, where neighbors help neighbors understand opportunities for smarter, greener energy use. We support permanent land preservation to protect what remains of our open space that helps lock up excess carbon.  We build local climate action networks to help our towns cut carbon pollution and build resilience.

The first step: sign up to be part of a community for change. Whether a long time activist or just ready to get involved, you’re invited. Click here to subscribe to Cape Climate News, our free monthly update on local climate action:

The Problem

Climate Change Threatens Cape Cod

Climate change poses a mortal threat to our Cape Cod communities: from the raging storms, rising seas, dangerous heat waves, deadly wildfires — extreme weather resulting from the rapidly warming climate. That warming is caused by heat-trapping carbon pollution from burning gas, oil and coal.

The Goal

Net Zero for Massachusetts

Massachusetts has set a goal of reaching net zero carbon pollution over the coming years, and we aim to be part of that solution here on the Cape.

The Solution

Local Action, Collective Impact

Everyone — regardless of age, experience, education, or income — can make a difference in the fight against climate change… in their personal lives, their homes, schools, businesses, and towns. By working together and learning from one another — at the local and regional levels — this collective action can be a powerful force in the fight against the climate crisis.
